CEC Halima Gababa on spot for cancelling Nakuru Youth week celebrations

Nakuru County CeC for sports, youth and Gender Ms.Halima Gababa is on spot over her move to ban the Youth week that was scheduled to take place from 7th-11th August and youths are now calling for her removal from office.

Addressing media in Nakuru the irate youths said the Cec is incompetent as she cannot organize such a function instead calling it off without consulting.

The youths led by Daniel Kimani,Saida Musa and Maimuna Mwinyi accused the Cec over what they termed is misconduct incompetence and abusiveness.

According to the youths, Cec Gababa refused to approve a 8.7 million budget meant for the international youth week celebrations.

“We cannot organize youth week without funding even after the Cec declined the 8.7 million shillings that had been budgeted for the same. We are now calling on Governor Lee Kinynajui to intervene on the same” said Kimani.

The youth are wondering how the county could afford money to purchase buses but fail to raise money to fund the youth week celebrations.

The group questioned the manner in which Ms Gababa has been handling ministry affairs singlehandedly without consulting the various stakeholders.

Gababa is also being accused of meddling in the management of the Nakuru players’ theater where she has been scheming to replace the theaters committee.

They now want Govenor Lee Kinyanjui to sack CeC Gababa vowing to camp at her office until she is evicted from office.

“Amina Gababa is incompetent and she does not understand the agenda of the youths and we are tiredf of her in that office” they said.

Gababa has since her appointment been embroiled in a bitter power war with Chief Officers in her ministry.
