A five year old boy from Mariakani estate in Mawanga Nakuru county is nursing serious injuries after he was mulled by two dogs early Friday.
David Travis a pupil at Shammah college Junior school had gone to visit his friends at a neighbors house when the dogs attacked him.
The boy’s father Wilson Nabutola says, “Immediately my son opened the gate the dogs had not been locked up as is the norm and immediately the dogs pounced on him leading to the sustained serious injuries on the face, buttocks, stomach, back, hands and legs.”
It took the efforts of neighbors to rescue him from the dogs said to be owned by a military officer based in Nairobi.
After reporting the matter at Teachers police post, the boy was rushed to Impact health care centre and maternity when he was stitched and given some antibiotics.
Medics also managed to dress the injured body parts and are set to inject him with an anti rabies vaccine. Peter Muturi who is the officer in charge of the facility said that the boy was out of danger.
“The facility has the capacity to handle the degree of injuries and therefore there is no need of referring the patient to a high level facility” he said.
The military officer has since offered to stand with the family by footing the hospital bill.
This is the third time the German shepherd dogs have been reported to have be involved in attacks as in the past they have attacked a cow and a woman.
