MCA raises alarm over police impostor harassing motorbike bodaboda operators

Flamingo Ward MCA Eddy Kiragu has called on police to come out clear on an individual identified as ‘Oscar’ who is masquerading  as police officer from Bondeni Police station and harassing Motorbike operators in Flamingo.

Speaking at his office on Monday when he issued out bursary cheques to over 70 youths who will be joining various Driving schools for training, the MCA noted that he had raised the harassment issue after motorbike operators raised concerns on the same.

According to MCA Kiragu, the individual identified as ‘Oscar’ could not be traced at Bondeni Police station after an inquiry was made to the Bondeni OCS.

“We have reached the OCS on the same and he says there is no such an officer. So we want the place to investigate and tell us who this person is” said Kiragu.

The MCA while noting that there are individuals who are misusing the Motorbike operators by engaging in criminal activities, he said his office will continue to offer training to the operators so that they can also transform the society.

He urged the riders to ensure they conform to the road safety laws adding that they also need to register for welfare and sacco to help them save.

“We are urging the motorbike Bodaboda operators to ensure they observe road safety and that they register for PSV insurance” said Mca Kiragu.

Sentiments echoed by Deputy OCS Bondeni Police station Mr. Stephen Mwinyi who called on Bodadaboda operators to be vigilant so as to avert crimes.

On his part, Flamingo Ward Administrator Mr. Levy Langat while noting that the county government of Nakuru is committed to empowering youths also called on locals to ensure they avail themselves during the public participation forums.

He said this is the only way to ensure their input is included in the budgetary process hence service delivery at grass root.

“My appeal to the public is that we avail ourselves during the budgetary process so that we can also give our views” said Mr.Langat.

The function was also attended by Kivumbini Ward MCA Wilbur Onyango who has also initiated such a program in his ward to empower youths.

While slamming the past leadership for not delivering during their tenure, he called on locals to continue supporting elected leaders in ensuring maximum development.

“You can see development now through MCA Kiragu meaning the past leadership had failed since even that time there were funds for development. My appeal to those who have received bursary for training please attend classes” said Wilbur.

The forum saw Motorbike Bodaboda operators receive crucial information on insurance,NHIF as well as NIMS registration.MCA Kiragu also donated 5 motorbikes to various youths in Flamingo Ward, several Kilograms of Maize Flour to women.

It will be remembered that during his campaign which he started way back in 2013 his team was always referred to as ‘Team Unga’.

The youthful MCA whose leadership is anchored on five pillars namely Education, Social empowerment, Security, Health and Poverty eradication, says all the issues affecting the people of Flamingo ward fall among the five items which he hopes to address during his tenure as MCA for the ward.

Flamingo ward is one of the wards in Nakuru county that in the recent past has been faced by insecurity.Kiragu was elected on a Jubilee ticket after he defeated former MCA Moses Gichangi during the April 2017 nominations and later won during the August polls 2017.
