More trouble in education sector as Sossion directs teachers to drop CBC system and go for 8-4-4 system

KNUT secretary General Wilson Sosion has directed all teachers to drop new education system Competence Based Curriculum CBC and concentrate with 8-4-4 system.

The KNUT boss noted the CBC has been hurriedly implemented by the ministry of education despite numerous challenges and failure by the government to follow the legal frame work of curriculum challenge.

Speaking in Mogotio Baringo county during KNUT Annual General Meeting Koibatek -Mogotio Branch said that all teachers should immediately stop teaching CBC anymore.

“We have declared with immediate effect that we are not going to teach CBC anymore. We are going to maintain the 8.4.4 system and for those who are in doubt go ask retired President Moi in Kabarak” said Sossion.

Sossion also slammed education CS Prof.George Magoha for not fully engaging teachers on the reforms in the education sector.He added that the education sector cannot succeed when teachers who are key stakeholders are sidelined.

“We are telling Magoha that the train of education is piloted by a teacher and therefore you cannot say the train has left the station yet the teachers are left out in the name of reforms” said Sosssion.

The KNUT SG calling on teachers to rally behind the Union’s stand as far as the CBC is concerned adding that the unity of teachers is what will help the education standards in the country.
