President urged to intervene over the plight of Egerton University students

Nakuru Youth and Governance Chairman Daniel Kimani has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene over the plight of Egerton University students at Njoro Main campus.

According to Kimani,Egerton University students year 2 and 3 are currently not in school since January but loitering in Njoro and Nakuru towns.

He says this has been occasioned by the University administration’s move to have the students report in May.

While asking president to intervene,Kimani noted that the move is a big blow to the youth fraternity with over 5000 students now loitering outside school.

The Institution was recently in the media over students’ unrest following misunderstanding on examination fee.

Kimani now wants the Management of the Institution changed.

He says if the matter is not addressed, the issue will pose a security threat around Egerton University.

“I am asking the President to order Ministry of education to change Management of the University from Vice Chancellor with immediate effect coz most youths are idle and very soon security in egerton will be at the threat” said Kimani.

He added that that the University should not use divide and rule.

This he says will affect the life of many youth in this country.
